Heather Berthoud: Principal, Social Justice + Civil Rights
Heather has been a trusted partner to organizational and community leaders for more than 30 years. She currently leads Berthoud Consulting and encourages leaders, teams, and organizations to experience, understand, and self-direct enterprises that are life-affirming in their means and ends. She combines a passion for social justice with a practical orientation, so leaders accomplish their goals, learn, and enjoy. Clients and colleagues describe her as insightful, fun, straightforward, challenging, and supportive.
Whether consulting to organizations or coaching groups or individuals, Heather supports clients to think anew and co-create solutions that endure. She listens intently and distills coherence, allowing leaders to articulate their full aspirations. As a result, clients get clearer about their current situation and goals. She provides exceptional value by identifying the essence of issues, offering perspective, and supporting clients’ application of new behaviors. She brings lightness and depth to often challenging situations.
Prior to consulting, she was responsible for organization development and curriculum design and delivery for the nationwide network of National Abortion Rights Action League (now Reproductive Freedom for All). She has taught in the American University Masters in Organization Development and currently supports the Georgetown University Organization Development and Change Leadership Certificate program as a learning team coach. She has also led numerous development programs on diversity, leadership, organizational change, and team development including Coaching Teams at the Gestalt International Study Center, and Wicked Company – an international network of change professionals committed to the development of Self and Others in organizations.
